Learn How to Speak Spanish

This blog is meant to help you learn how to speak Spanish…. or I could even say to help you learn how to learn. You may be saying “well duh” if you are a regular reader, but I was just thinking about what I am trying to do here. Unlike the other websites on learning Spanish that I go to myself, this one doesn’t teach you any Spanish… well just a word here and there thrown in for illustrating a point!

I am not qualified to teach Spanish myself, as anyone who has chatted with me in Spanish for five minutes could tell you. But where I do  have something to offer is in addressing the question of how you can can learn. What are the steps that a person has to go through in learning Spanish or in learning any language?  ( I almost said in learning anything but decided to stay focused on language learning beyond one’s native tongue.)

There has to be desire or motivation.

You have to choose a way to learn Spanish. There are many ways, and you may actually choose more than one… for example, you could be working with a software program and also watching Spanish programs on TV.

There has to be some time in your life, regularly, for working on the language.

It’s essential to review what you’ve learned or else you will forget far too much of it!

You need to listen to plenty of Spanish, and you need to practice speaking it.

I cover these points in my free ebook, Five Keys to Learning Spanish Rapidly.

  1. How to choose a method of Spanish that is right for you
  2. Find all kinds of time to learn Spanish
  3. Remember by reviewing: that’s how our minds work
  4. Listen, listen, listen
  5. Speak Spanish now

If you’d like a copy of this freebie, just scroll down this page, keeping an eye on the far right column, and you’ll see an illustration of the ebook cover and a place to sign up for it.

I get emails all the time from people telling me that the ebook has been useful. Seems to me that before you can succeed, you need to learn how to speak Spanish!

Thanks for your comments. I don't entirely agree that you need to go abroad to learn another language, but I completely agree that true immersion is a stellar way to learn.

You really need to go immerse yourself in a native Spanish speaking environment. There are immersion programs in foreign countries that will have classes while simultaneously housing you with a Spanish speaking family. Learning in an English speaking country is extremely difficult and you will never truly learn the language because academic language learning is very different than practical, everyday usage. If you don't have this kind of option then I would recommend taking courses where there is interaction with a teacher and other students (community colleges are inexpensive) and watch alot of Spanish television to pick up on the colloquial language.
