I’m always advocating that you listen to as much Spanish as possible… It’s one of the five keys in my free ebook on learning Spanish. (Don’t have the ebook yet? Get it from the order form on the right side of any page of this site.) So I’m happy today to direct your attention to an award-winning website from Spain where you can listen and listen.
Even if you don’t understand much, it helps your brain to create the neural pathways it needs for mastering Spanish over time.
SSL4you – which stands for something like “Spanish Second Language for You” – just looks like an ordinary blog at first glance. The sidebar shows over 100 podcasts you can listen to. Teresa Sanchez is a teacher in a small town in Spain, and she creates blog entries in Spanish and English on a wide variety of topics.
The podcast part comes in when you click on the title of an entry. Then the sound file will load. It came up with RealPlayer on my computer, but I’m sure it would play with other players too.
I suggest that instead of just clicking on a title, you right-click and choose to open the podcast in a new browser tab or window. That way, you will be able to listen and also refer to the words on the screen if you want to. In doing this, I noticed that she doesn’t stick strictly to her script, and I liked that.
An enjoyable way to improve your Spanish online for free, SSL4you is not a step-by-step course. For good courses, both free and commercial, take a look at my categories list on the right hand side of this blog.
