Fluenz Spanish: Lesson Two Review

demo of how to use the software at Fluenz SpanishLesson Two of Fluenz Spanish was actually what got me excited about this innovative software for learning Spanish. You can do it online for no charge at the Fluenz software demo, as I did. You don’t even have to give them your email address. Click on  the image to go to the demo. Once there, you can play a short introduction or go right to Lesson Two… the link to the lesson will be in the lower right of their website.

One thing you’ll notice in doing this program is that it is not just to learn how to speak Spanish. It also gets you started with the rudiments of reading and writing Spanish. Since all three reinforce each other, this makes your learning all the more effective.

This lesson teaches you how to order coffee and water in a restaurant,  and to ask for the check. The gender of nouns is explained. The grammar in this program is worked gently into the sessions.

For some reason, while question marks and exclamation marks are used correctly, periods are not always put at the end of sentences. I puzzled over this briefly. Since everything in the software is done with careful attention to detail, I decided that it was probably because the Fluenz Spanish screen often shows phrases and at other times shows sentences. They had likely concluded that periods only sometimes would be a distraction.

Here’s a screenshot of the dialogue, with both English and Spanish subtitles.
