pimsleur teaches spanish as we as human beings learn language. as a child, you do not start out reading and writing. you listen to your parents first, then you begin to repeat and build your oral language. only when you reach school age to you begin to learn to read and write. the beginning spanish i learned with pimsleur gave me a great foundation. i went on to the courses and eventually trips to peru and mexico. its hard to learn a foreign language living in the US because you have little chances to hear it everyday. but the stuff i learned from the pimsleurs cds, i still have in my brain. i recommend it

Tina, you don’t have it right. This site is VERY much about learning Spanish. Nobody has ever paid me anything to write an article and some of my articles are pretty critical of some of the programs. (actually, I tend not to write about the programs that I try and think they are really bad.) The only way that I make any money from this site is if someone does buy a product from my link, in some cases I receive a commission. This is clearly stated on the Notice on the sidebar. This site is a labor of love.
